Chigwell’s own Camera Club of approximately 25 members is based at the Victory Hall, Hainault Road, IG7 6QZ.  We run a friendly, non-competitive, group anxious to improve and develop our competence at photography through a varied programme designed to meet diverse levels of knowledge and ability.

We centre our attention on the two most important elements of Good Photography: mastery of your camera, by photographing well in the first place, and, competence at digital image processing.  In this respect a continuous Self Development Programme is provided to enable participants to advance at their own pace, rather than to commit to formal training Courses.

The Club meets twice a month: normally on the First Friday of each month from 7.15pm for taskwork and discussion followed from 8pm with interesting informative lectures, digital and print ‘battles’ and competitions with other Clubs.  A mid-monthly meeting is conducted for external practical fieldwork around the local district.  These are intended to develop ‘the photographic eye’ and technical ability, and are supported each Quarter with a Theme based photographic ‘subject’ and by outings to places of photographic interest in and around London.

Occasionally we are asked why we only meet twice a month.  For sound reasons we believe.  Primarily our objective is not to intrude too much into personal time by imposing a detailed workload on members.  The Art of Photography is very much a personal pursuit in which one develops ones own parameters of interest, confidence and enjoyment through experience and the guidance and encouragement of others.  We find our budding and practised photographers alike enjoy this pleasant effective environment to engage in what is a very engrossing recreation.
